In the latest reshuffling of the government, Eritrea's Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Musa Rab'a, has been named the Governor of Denkalia, replacing Mr. Weldemichael Abraha, who has assumed the position of Minister of Transportation. The former minister of transporation, Mr. Estifanos Afwerki (aka "Bruno"), is now Eritrea's ambassador to Japan. Since the escape of Mr. Semere Kesete from "his" jail in July of last year, Mr. Musa Rab'a had been frozen and his assignment to Asab is, according to our sources, a form of punishment. In early 2001, Mr. Saleh Kekya, Eritrea's then Minister of Transportation, was assigned to the mayorship of Asab, Denkalia, a position he declined, immediately raising speculations that he would be "frozen" or disappeared. Mr Saleh Kekya is one of the G-15, now in jail without charges since September 2001. |
