Confirmed: Colonel Mohammed Burhan Abdelkader Ditches PFDJ Print E-mail
By Gedab News - Feb 10, 2003
Colonel Mohammed Burhan Abdelkadir, the First Secretary in the Eritrean Embassy in Cairo, has recently abandoned Eritrea’s ruling party, PFDJ, and is now living in England.  An EPLF veteran, Colonel Mohammed Burhan has extensive knowledge of the regime’s operations in the Middle East, where he was assigned for decades.

At least two other military officers, a Colonel and a General who arrived in the USA several months ago, are yet to return to Eritrea. A source tells Gedab News, “so far, they haven't declared their abandonment of the regime....most likely they are not going back."  Gedab News will publish their names as soon as confirmation is received.

The PFDJ is also said to be considering calling back its Ambassador and Consul General to Australia.   In the recent festival the government organized, fissures emerged within the community prompting an unhappy Abdella Jaber, PFDJ Head of Organizational Affairs, to issue ultimatums to the officials.
