A leadership delegation from the ELF-RC has left Addis Ababa to Khartoum for talks with Sudanese authorities. The delegation that arrived in Khartoum included Seyoum Ogbamichael, the Chairman of the ELF-RC and Ahmad Nasser, president of the unity affairs office. Last month, Eritrean opposition leaders approached Sudanese and Ethiopian officials to help them reconcile the differences between the ELF-RC and the ENA. The ELF-RC’s membership in the Eritrean National Alliance (ENA) is still suspended after it withdrew from the meeting accusing the other members of succumbing to external interference and electing Herui T. Bairu. Diplomatic sources informed Gedab News that The Sudan, Ethiopia and Yemen, all neighbors to Eritrea, “have indicated their reluctance to deal with different opposition organizations separately”. The source added, “I am highly optimistic that ELF-RC/ENA problem will be resolved soon”. Meanwhile, reports from Kassela indicated that the members of the ELF-RC and the ENA in that town are “going about [their] operations as if the Addis Debacle didn’t happen”. |
