Thank You for Making our Seminar an Outstanding Success!

Eritrean Solidarity takes this opportunity to publicly thank Professor Dan Connell and Mr. Saleh Johar (Gadi) for making our April 12, 2008 seminar an extraordinarily success.

Eritreans from Atlanta, compatriots and guest from Europe, Canada and other states were treated to an extraordinary seminar organized by ESJHR – Atlanta. The level of organization, cooperation, the quality of the speeches presented by the two guest speakers and the chairman of ESJHR (Solidarity), the democratic decorum and the civility of the question and answer session was precedent setting.

The support of the community at large: the representatives and members of the Eritrean opposition, the families who organized the best dinner for the event, the youth who were assertive in their questions and affirming in their support, the generous individuals who gave financial contribution, those who asked how they could help develop and advance the goals of the ESJHR, the diversity of the audience all in all was an affirmation of the vision and goals of Solidarity. 

We will release a comprehensive assessment of the historic event soon but we felt we had the obligation to thank those who made our event shine and infused fresh oxygen and recharged our energy. The honor and privilege of hosting the gathering was ours. We will utilize the experience and lessons as a springboard for further growth and development so that we can serve our community better.

The struggle for Justice and human rights need an input by every concerned Eritrean and we cannot and do not claim any exclusivity. The task ahead of us is too formidable for a small organization like ESJHR –Atlanta to tackle by itself  but in unity with other sister organizations and  the solid support of Eritrean Americans in metro Atlanta we will do our best to shoulder our share of  responsibility and make a modest contribution to the national struggle to democratize Eritrea.

April 12, 2008 was a beginning!  A worthy beginning.
