"Hzbawi Mekhete" In Shimelba Print E-mail

Eritreans are having two versions of "popular resistance" or "hzbawi mekhete."  Some Diaspora Eritreans are holding their "hzbawi mekhete" meetings in 5-star hotels of the West, where they listen to speeches by PFDJ cadres and then issue resolutions and pledges in defense of the victimizer of the Eritrean people (the PFDJ).  Meanwhile, Eritrean opposition organizations are holding a series of "hzbawi mekhete" meetings in support of the victimized youth who escaped the ruling regime's endless conscription and are now languishing in refugee camps of neighboring countries--Sudan and Ethiopia.

The pictures below were taken in October, 2007 by the ELF-RC at Shimelba refugee camp in Ethiopia.  Compare these pictures of Eritrea's youth with those issued by the PFDJ, which show middle-aged men and women who live in comfortable exile, far removed from wars, but funding wars and a dictatorship.   Which one is "hzbawi mekhete" and which one is "hgdefawi mekhete"?  The full story is available at ELF-RC's November 30 edition of "The Eritrean Newsletter" (Issue 101) in PDF format.
