Since Sunday, Denkalia has been quaranteened due to a breakout of a contagious disease.
According to commercial drivers who attempted to go to Assab with their tourists, the Eritrean regime has blocked off the area and access is prohibited. Our sources describe the afflicted as suffering from a cholera-like disease whose symptoms include vomiting and dysentery. There has been no official report on the scale of the disease and the casualties: the state media has maintained total blackout of the news. Denkalia is in southeastern Eritrea in the region now known as the Southern Red Sea. |
