EDA: Sana’a Axis Mediation Didn’t Bear Fruit Print E-mail
By Gedab News - Mar 01, 2007

Mediations by officials from the Sana’a Axis to solve the differences between the EDA member organizations didn’t bear fruit.

In a meeting held yesterday under the auspices of senior officials, Block 2 defended its unilateral decision to form the executive council saying that its members have the majority votes needed and can only accept block 1 organizations as minority members.

The officials tried to convince the EDA members to go back and resume their meeting starting from the day the crisis of electing the executive council surfaced. The proposal was rejected by both blocks.

Both blocks agreed not to ignite a media war and to work as closely as possible.

At the end of the meeting, block 1 proposed the appointment of a caretaker committee for an interim period to oversee EDA affairs that concern both blocks. According to the proposal of block 1, the caretaker committee will be composed of two members each from both blocks under the leadership of the neutral Nahda party. Block 2 asked for time to study the proposal and is expected to give its reply on Friday, March 2.
