There is nothing new about the state of the Eritrean peoples plight that I can add today. Many a prolific writers have written so many times how dire the circumstances have become and how fast the country is moving to words abyss. The dictatorial grip, which the Eritrean People is suffocating under, has to be dealt with sooner than later. All democratically minded Eritreans inside and outside the country should focus their energies to get rid of this cruel dictatorship to salvage the nation from disintegration and anarchy. When I read the apologetic statement by Minister Haile Duree and his vision of inclusive democratic and constitutional governance in Eritrean and later the courageous statements by Ambassador Hibret Berhe and her principled choice to stand by her people to fight injustice and dictatorship, I did not say where have you been all these years, instead I said, here is a courageous heroine that has disassociated herself from the enemies of the Eritrean People and I welcomed her to the democratic camp. As of Minister Haile I have also written in conjunction of the essence of time that time was being wasted to save his and his comrades life. I was also outraged by the disrupted meeting of the Ambassadors in the Washington DC metro area on October 26, 2001 that I called it Ultimate Betrayal of the heroes of our struggle for liberation by those who benefited from their scarifies in realizing Independent Eritrea. This is not just this writers opinion, but it was an opinion shared by all in the opposition organizations and their members as well. It was not compassion either, it was a genuine desire to see the demise of the dictator accelerated, and the aspirations of our people to see an Eritrea governed by the rule of law, at peace within and without realized. In order to consolidate the opposition into a formidable force, it was my opinion and still is my conviction that minor differences and untimely accusations wont help the task at hand. No political group should accuse and judge other political group for political expediency. In Democratic Eritrea where the power rests with the people, political parties should compete peacefully and fairly. Political power should transfer by the power of the ballot. As for those who committed actual or perceived crimes against the people or groups or individuals, it is only prudent to bring them to justice under a constitutional government, either by a fact-finding commission or by individuals who have complaints. It should be conducted in a responsible, transparent and judicious manner. If not it is going to be like putting a horse behind a cart. It is from this standpoint that the founders of the EPLF-DP were encouraged not to dwell in the past and present inter-organizational squabbles. To my dismay and to many others (who communicated with me) recently we have seen a number of provocative and self-serving articles, with utter disregard to the misery of our people and their cry for help. The articles that I am alluding to are the following. 1.Grammar of Politics. By Dr. Bereket Habtesellassie. 2. Fishy All Around. By the Awate Team 3. If Hitler Invaded Hell, By Saleh AA Younis 4. Notes on The Strategy of Negotiated Peaceful Revolution, By Seyoum Tesfaye 5. A Contribution to Dr. Taddesses Road Map. Okbazghi Yohannes 6. What is to be done? By Paulos Natnael With the exception of Dr. Bereket and Dr. Okbazghis articles that dealt with the constitution, the rest of the articles interest me because of one issue i.e. the way they raised an issue in regard to the meeting of the ALLIANCE OF ERITREAN NATIONAL FORCES in Ethiopia. Dr. Bereket and Okbazghi are for the implementation of the constitution. When and how they dont talk about much. Their insistence in all the opposition to accept the ratified constitution is purely subjective. It does not ask why are some quarters silent or dont want to accept it? In a nutshell it is not who wrote it or how it was compiled. It is because it does not reflect the interests of all Eritreans. It could be good for one Nation with the same interests but it is a far cry for a multi-lingua-cultural society with differing interests like Eritrea. But nobody has to say no at this moment, in time it can be presented as a document for consideration. If only the respected doctors stop trying to shove it down our throats. Please remember silence is not a sign of ignorance. The other writers are EPF members. EPF members are supposedly reform minded elements. Paulos and Seyoum for example. The concerted efforts to ostracize the AENF because they are convening in Ethiopia, is devoid of substance. I am sure they could have been called much more badly, if they were meeting in the Sudan. The place of a meeting is not supposed to create such uproar, from the most prolific writers in the Eritrean cyber community. It is political expediency that might backfire. If there is any issue that compromises the well being of our people or our territorial integrity that these groups are concocting in Addis, then I am all ears. Saleh AA Younis has gone farther to quantify the oppositions base. It is kind of arrogance. Is not it? The Awate Teams Fishy all around article is Partisan. Please keep the integrity of the website. By this article and the recent meeting in Holland it implies that you have taken an organizational stand. There is nothing wrong with it. But we the people are asking for Transparency. The Wahyo way of doing things is copy righted by EPLFDJ. It wont work for others. There is a Tigrinia saying that goes Wedi dekas kelte gizie eSefae in English it is something like A poor mans son gets slapped twice. The dictator and his cronies are calling AENF all kinds of names and the reformers are jumping in the same wagon. It is better if all democratic forces and individuals focus on the big picture. Creation of stable, democratic Eritrea, Governed by rule of law, at peace with itself and its neighbors. Everlasting glory to our martyrs Peace and stability for the courageous Eritrean People.
