Gedab News has learned that Lieutenant Colonel Tesfagebriel Embaye, also known as "Hefun," has abandoned the regime in Asmara. He is now living in the United States of America. A veteran of the Eritrean People Liberation Front (EPLF), Lt Col Tesfa has held various positions since he joined the Front in 1975. He served in the mechanized division of the Front and, after independence, the Eritrean Defense Forces (EDF.) In 1994, he was transferred to the administrative field where he served in various managerial positions including the Administrator of the sub-zones of Molqi and Mogolo (in Gash Barka.) Colonel Tesfa came to the USA in September of this year after using various pretexts to get an exit visa. More recently, he has been willing to publicly distance himself from an organization he has been associated with for nearly thirty years. Reached by telephone, Colonel Tesfa told Gedab News that he has decided to join the "struggle to rid Eritrea of the barbaric dictatorship that is crippling it" and that his colleagues in the EDF are very much concerned of what "has become of Eritrea after all the sacrifices that we went through." Asked about his immediate plans, he replied that he will "primarily focus on encouraging his former colleagues to side with the national struggle against the dictatorship" because the system is "irredeemable." |
