The Inefficiency of the Eritrean Political Parties and Organizations in the Diaspora Print E-mail

I would like to start by commending all Eritreans both abroad and within Eritrea of their determination and unwillingness to forego the uncompromising values, freedoms, and the individual right of due process of law in Eritrea. The sanctity of Eritrea's territorial integrity and sovereignty, it's people, and the intangibles-"natural human rights", were gained by the citizen's of Eritrea on behalf of our patriotic and heroic brothers and sisters of the past and present that shed their blood, sweat, tears, and limbs! The very foundations of the Eritrean Revolution for Independence have been hijacked by the current transitional government in Eritrea. The outcry for salvation by our people can be heard echoing worldwide. The horrendous conditions suffered by our people in Malta and Italy to escape their native land further proves this phenomena. The governance and policies endorsed and implemented over the past ten years by the transitional government proves to be irreversible and therefore, has created instability, a humanitarian crisis, and a negligence for culture, religion, and tradition. We are at a stage in our short history, that many are contemplating whether or not Eritrean Independence can be sustained, preserved, and most importantly, guaranteed. The present regime has proven itself unreliable, unorganized, undiplomatic, unaccountable, irresponsible and has pursued further actions of aggression against our people. We live in an Era of Globalization and the importance of a democratic institution is vital for the survival of a nation. The Age of Information has further interconnected the world socially, economically, and politically. Many benefits are available in the Global Era but if Eritrea contends to be authoritative and centralized, then we will be swallowed up by our competitors instead of receiving our share in the Global Market. Many in the general public are aware of the present political crisis and the climatic dangerous that loom in Eritrea. Henceforth, numerous political parties and organizations through extreme pressures and resounding efforts, have tried to tackle the problematic issues in Eritrea but implementation of these resolutions have beard little fruit on the ground. The country continues to be in disarray and the current transitional government does not intend on relinquishing their power to the people no time soon. Therefore, the fundamental question is, "What, When, and How will democracy come about in Eritrea?"

Many representatives ( Heiru Bairuo, Mesfin Hagos, Dr. Bereket Habtesalassie etc...) of their respective parties and organizations have made public appearances and gave instrumental speeches and constructive dialogues about the current political crisis and the negative impact the transitional government has left on Eritrea and on the Horn of Africa. I cheer on their continued efforts and determination to alter the destruction caused by the Asmara regime and their ability to shed light to fellow Eritreans that have different political views or misunderstanding on the realization inside Eritrea. The Eritrean parties and organizations have taken on the responsibility of doing their part and exhausting all measures to save Eritrea from utter-chaos and division. The general public has pleaded with the different parties to reconcile differences among each other and to form a consensus and to build a formidable and more effective opposition that could take preemptive measures and counter the PFDJ. The party leaders of the Alliance have made some progress by joining forces and trying to create a legitimate opposition. The EPLF-DP has made some strides toward aligning themselves with other parties but seem not to have an agenda in cooperating with other parties and organizations. Political parties are formed by individuals who share the same principles and have a consensus on the future political, economic, and social progress of the nation. Therefore political parties are fundamentally entitled to pursue their agendas. But Eritreans in the Diaspora and within Eritrea can not afford to wait for individual players, what Eritrea needs is a strong team. A player alone cannot succeed but as part of a team many insurmountable tasks can be accomplished. All parties willing and able must form a United Coalition and coordinate tasks within the coalition to stand united against the PFDJ and with the people of Eritrea. All individual party goals must be kept aside for the salvation of our people. As a United Coalition, presenting your case of the truth and reality in Eritrea to the United Nations, European Members and other countries will force them to stand on the side of the Eritrean people. Gathering political support for your party in the Diaspora whether U.S., Europe, or even Ethiopia is irrelevant and prolongs the suffering of your people. It is the Eritrean people within Eritrea that have the decision and right to choose their form of democracy, governance, and leadership!
