Mr. Abdalla Musa Named Governor Of "Northern Red Sea Zone" Print E-mail
By Gedab News - Nov 17, 2004

Mr. Abdalla Musa has been appointed to the governorship of Northern Red Sea.  The position had been vacant since the dismissal of Mr. Alamin Sheikh Saleh.

Abdalla Musa had been “frozen”—salaried but without official assignment--since he was relieved of his responsibilities as head of the Eritrean Immigration department about two years ago.

The former governor, Alamin Sheikh Saleh, is still under virtual confinement.   Sources report that he is seen in town but is not allowed to leave Massawa.   Gedab News has learned that the incident that triggered his unceremonious sacking from office was his reassignment of the hand-picked administrator of Massawa, Colonel Tesfai, to Foro Sub-Zone.   Colonel Tesfai is the cousin of Major General Haile Samuel (“China”), the Commander of the Fourth Military Operations Zone.

Following the firing of the Governor, Colonel Tesfai was brought back as administrator of Massawa.

Since the implementation of military operations zones, there has been a continuous power struggle between the military commanders and the Regional Administrators, with the military commanders always emerging triumphant.
