Since its launching on September 1, 2000, the Awate Team has become the perpetual thorn on the throat of the tyrannical PFDJ.  It has done so by presenting facts, arguments and evidence that the PFDJ is (1) a criminal and lawless entity; (2) an incompetent organization; and (3) a corrupt-to-the core political party which owes its legitimacy to rule purely on force and intimidation.  To make our case, we have presented dozens of reports-via interviews, investigative reports, news and testimonials from a diverse group of Eritreans.    

The response from PFDJ supporters?  Well, we are including a sample from the "people's websites", the sister websites of Shaebia.org, the ruling party's official website.  How sisterly are the websites?  They use the same writers, and as we demonstrated in a previous investigative report, the same administrators: They are joined at the hip; they promote and sanction each other's work.    

When you are done reading the samples below, ask yourself this question: why does a supposedly "nationalist" organization like PFDJ seem to be the haven for all the kooks, the fascists and all the veiled and open-faced bigots of Eritrea?

Last year (on April 15, 2002), a prominent Dehaier, Dr. Tseggai Isaac, (yes, the same Tseggai Isaac now calling for reconciliation between Eritreans and Ethiopians) wrote the following:

We must demand that those Eritreans who are managing anti-Eritrean web sites to discredit Eritrea and sow the seeds of discord should be black-listed. The Eritrean Government should realize that it is duty-bound to protect Eritrea's independence, and should take effective measures to administer swift punishment. Otherwise, these groups left to their own freewheeling assault on Eritrea, will continue causing grave damage to Eritrea. Yes, unless they are confronted swiftly and effectively, the damage they will continue to inflict will be monumental in the long run.

maybe - just maybe, the Awate website is actually a comedy club merely for entertainment and not to be taken seriously. If this hypothesis were true, it would explain everything and make a lot of sense to the fickle and loosely ruthless behavior of the Awate team. Otherwise, their immense hatred for Eritrea, and anything that has to do with it brings one to question their true identity, and origin.

...Another factor is what I will call the Jeberti factor. This is a phenomenon unto itself, a phenomenon that requires deeper investigation than I will be able to do here. For some reason, a majority of Jebertis in the Diaspora have developed anti-Eritrean tendencies. Although they try to disguise their political attitudes as emanating from their support of the ELF, the reality is elsewhere. In the 1980s for example, most Jebertis who were in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait had practically surrendered to the Derg. When the Ethiopian embassy was moved from Jeddah to Riyadh in the mid 1980s, the Jeberti community in Riyadh hosted a big party for the Ethiopian ambassador. Many of them were travelling to Ethiopia and Eritrea to buy property there. I wonder how many of Salih Younis' or Salih Gadi's relatives fall in this category? A large number of the Eritrean Muslims in the West today are Jebertis. As each of us can attest by just looking at our locality, we know where they stand.

We presented the above just to give the reader a sample of what passes for debate and discussion at the PFDJ-controlled websites.  As for the Awate Team, what does it think of all the above?   To us, it is evidence that we are winning.  Anything that exposes the PFDJ's true character (prone to violence, fascistic and quite comfortable in playing the ethnic card) is helpful to our cause because it makes our job easier.   Beyond that, we like to assure our well-wishers: don't worry.  We live in a land governed by laws and any violation of its laws (including calls on our assassination) is dispatched promptly to the authorities who get paid well to deal with the minor irritants. 

And our job? Well, boys and girls, we have barely begun the struggle and you ain't seen nothing yet.  More facts, more arguments, more news, more investigation, more testimonials, more expose are on the way.  And we won't rest until the thoroughly corrupt PFDJ is totally exposed and stands bare in front of the Eritrean people who, ultimately, have to make a decision whether they want to be governed by brutes, liars and politically corrupt individuals.
