Dear Dr. Habte Tesfamariam; It is with so much interest that I read your interview with Awate.com and I wish to express to you my personal appreciation for your invaluable contribution to the education of so many of us who had the honor of attending the UNESCO school in Kessella. Among your impressive personal achievements, you aptly said that the establishment of the UNESCO school was your greatest. Indeed, it is. I don't know if you would ever know, the scope and magnitude of the way you've touched the lives of so many young Eritreans including mine. Thanks to your vision and leadership, thousands of young Eritreans are now enjoying rewarding careers in diverse professions. Amid the turbulences and hopelessness of a life as a refugee, the school provided a sense of normalcy, a sense of hope and assurance that tomorrow is a better day. The school was our new contract to life. You're a living testimony that education matters. When I read your analysis of the current problems and your proposed solutions, I realize how lucky we are to have you around. Your proven track of record as a champion of education and your current crusades for democracy and rule of law are immensely appreciated and noticed. As compensation for your sacrifices, however, you've the knowledge that the UNESCO school has successfully produced highly educated professionals that would directly or indirectly join you in your fight for freedom. Their success is your success. Perhaps, it is in our success and commitment to the welfare of our people that we can better say "thank you" to you. Thank you, Dr. Habte Tesfamariam. I wish you the best of success in all your endeavors. Sincerely Semere T Habtemariam |
