...Asmara Rose is done misrepresenting American history to suit her purposes, she goes to misrepresent Eritrea's with her faux knowledge of Eritrean cultures: "Understanding Eritrea's development strategy requires knowledge of Eritrea's rich history, and Eritrea's diverse cultures, norms and social traditions."  And what exactly are those?  Does she have a clue that the rich Eritrean history is mostly based on the quest for freedom?

Focusing On The Enforcers

...Ethiopia is busy with its Millennium Celebration and reportedly it is expecting hundreds of thousands of visitors with hard cash. The coming three months are not good for any war: our region is in the middle of the rainy season when countries that do not have good road network wait for the dry season to roll their fighting machines. The Western rim of Ethiopia along the Sudanese border on Begemeder has become impassable for traffic and vehicles...

Tweedledum & Tweedledee: lqqi chflqqi

Tweedeldum and Tweedeldee are characters in an old poem by the English poet John Byrom. Overtime, the characters were adapted in nursery rhymes and cartoons and became the equivalent of "Dumb & Dumber". Searching for an Eritrean equivalent of Tweedeldum & Tweedeldee I found a perfect traditional tigrigna rhyme: Nora Msqora- well, it is very close I presume:

The Horn and the Abused

...They are so nice they still count on Isaias to respect human rights. What a big heart. After so many insults and disrespect, they wish to make a statesman of a man Eritreans wrongly consider a brute. Snake charmers are dying of envy. A man wrongly accused by his own people as being without principle, without any trace of decency and civility is now for the umpteenth time being polished to be transformed to the real enlightened leader that he is!

Warriors With A Bandana

...the busy street is Edaga Hamus and the bus station which would be crowded with travelers and people seeing them off. The most moving scene was that of the crowd that came to see students off to Addis Ababa for Higher education at the Haile Sellassie university- their immediate families, relatives and neighbors would be crying and weeping at the bus station.
