We are at the Tipping Point, a phase where small steps can yield immense results. We are either struggling for the sake of struggling or struggling to bring about change. If we are struggling for change, if we are struggling to bust our mob, then there is no alternative other than the opposition coming together for a common purpose and concentrate on ridding Eritrea of its homegrown malady.

There are many reasons for why the world will not come to Eritrea’s rescue, the most compelling one was explained by the PFDJ’s Central Office in its “Weyane’s Third Offensive & The Political Campaign That Followed It” discussion paper, that was issued (unsigned, of course) in January 01, while preparing the groundwork for the arrest of the G-15: “Woyane did not accept the resolutions nor did they reject them; they labored to affect changes by asking questions and raising issues. This is a peaceful struggle practiced by all. Why it didn’t bring about the needed outcome for us but did for the Woyane is not because they were better at it; it is because after the Second and Third Offensive they were able to occupy territories and this was seen as military superiority, which, in the minds of the mediators, earned them the right to demand concessions. The basis of diplomacy is power; and peace processes are governed by the military situation on the ground."

Our Four Horsemen

Sooner or later, we learn that the ideal of fairness may be a fine thing but life is not fair. Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people. Criminals get away with their crimes and the innocent languish in prisons for decades. Tortures retire in comfortable exile and the wounded endure a life-long struggle with insanity. We like to think that great events are caused by great causes. For tens of thousands to die, for hundreds of thousands to be displaced, deported, maimed, the causes must be worthwhile. But then we come to learn that it is just two people with a bad case of inflamed egos trying to teach each other a lesson.
