 Isaias claims that he does not want to make fake elections like the Woyane. The question he never wants to answer is why he does not want to hold a fair election and establish a constitutional government. He does not want a democratic Eritrea because in a democratic Eritrea he will be accountable for his political and economic crimes. Isaias criticizing the Woyane is simply like a child criticizing another child for bad handwriting while he himself cannot write. |

Year in, year out he makes the usual claim that starts with, "medebat lm'Atna ab xbuq bayta regixukwa entelo…" [Although our economic development is on firm footing...] There is always, "gn" [but] or welakwa [even though], and the poor people believe him. Anyhow, he is buying time until something he cannot control pops up and he leaves the stage for good. |

Every summer, I talk to Diaspora Eritreans who are visiting and I ask them questions. I find that despite their years of living in more advanced countries, it is I living in Asmara who has to educate them. I have to listen to their hypocricy and their complaints. I entertain them lavishly and they drop me some coins. Summer is coming soon, and I will have to hear the Diaspora Eritreans, who are full of strange and contradictory things.

In January 2007, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) gave commendations to auditors the world over including Eritrea’s Auditor General, Berhane Habtemariam. This is a troubling recognition on many levels and one could only surmise that the measure was taken out of ignorance. |

I know so many of them who talk negatively about the regime. Even the security people. The reason for this is that the economic crisis has blanketed everyone from top to bottom. No one cares or talks about the relationship between Ethiopia and the opposition. The people began to look for change from the opposition.But due to its various shortcomings, the opposition has become good for nothing in the opinion of the people. |
