Adem Melekin: A Brick In the Foundation Of Eritrea (1) Print E-mail
By Saleh Gadi - Apr 11, 2005

Hamed Idris Awate: The Match of The Eritrean Revolution Print E-mail
By Awate Staff - Jun 19, 2003
A mini-bio on the man who started it all, and the inspiration for this website, Hamed Idris Awate  "The ELA decided not reveal the martyrdom of Awate, and they buried him secretly. Awates martyrdom was made public 4 years after his death. Martyr and leader Hamid Idris Awate led the armed struggle in its critical times. He laid the way for this new Eritrean experience to take its shape. Awate died when our revolution was in desperate need for his leadership. He has gone but left huge legacy of self-reliance. He left without a farewell to his comrades, people, family, and most importantly his wife and son Karar who was born in the jail in the city of Tessanai."

What started to brew then was the anger of the Eritrean people. The anger led to the formation of the Mahber Shewate and later the Eritrean liberation Front.
