Eritreans are being deported because we have not made the case that the Eritrean government mistreats its citizens based on “race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.” Eritreans are being deported back to Eritrea because we have not made the case that Eritreans will be tortured and denied their freedom or their life once they return. Eritreans are being deported back to Eritrea because the host countries are under no pressure to do the right thing. |

As of 2/15/2008, 80 individuals have pledged $18,800. This is the amount that has been donated online and via checks. Some Awate supporters, particularly Eritreans who visit home or hold Eritrean passports and who fear retribution by the tyrannical regime of Eritrea, have requested that their donation be kept entirely confidential. This shall be honored. |
