It is true that over the years, the Ethnic Tigrigna community has been subjected to a relentless campaign of fear-mongering at the hands of the chauvinists and the bigots in the community. The smear campaigns of “Amma haradit”, “Jihadawiyan”, “Taliban” and the relentless character assassinations of all those who were deemed to be obstacles to the implementation of the chauvinist agenda, were part and parcel of the clichéd  bogy-man tactics used by the chauvinists to scare the community cold into supporting them.

فى التاسع والعشرون من ديسمبر عام 2009 وقبل يومين من نهاية السنة أتتني مكالمة تلفونية يقول صاحبها "توفى اليوم الأستاذ محمد بشير" وكم حزنت على ذلك الحدث الجلل ، كان إنسان حمل شعلة الضياء لعدة عقود قبل ان تخباء شعلة حياته. دُفن الأستاذ محمد بشير فى أسمرا فى جنازة كبيرة تليق بمقامه وخرجت الجماهير الغفيرة من طلبته واحبته ومعارفه واهله لتوضيعه الى مثواه الأخير. اللهم تقبله برحمتك الواسعة.

In the government’s rhetoric, education is touted as a main (if not the main) route to the country’s development. However, assertive declarations and campaigns for expanding access to education are not sufficient for achieving education’s goals if the overall political and policy environment in which they are embedded is not conducive. Eritrea’s repressive political environment in general, and the militarization of education in particular, has significant adverse effects on education in the country.

اخذت "روبلى"تحدق النظر بتركيز شديد على صفوف الجيش السائر بانتظام الى"زال امبسا"، وتبين لها من سحناتهم انهم من شبه القارة الهندية؛ من بنقلاديش او من الهند..، فردت على عمها بالقول: " يا عمى..، هؤلاء العسكر من شبه القارة الهندية، وبالطبع لا يعرفون كلام الطليان ..، فبأى لغة تحدثونهم.., وانتم تعرفون ان الكلام معهم فى قاموس السلطة يعد من جرائم الخيانة العظمى.., فهيا بنا ياعمى انسوا الموضوع، ولا تضيعوا  وقتكم فيه..، هيا بنا ..،دعونى احمل عنكم "القفة..الزمبيل" واساعدكم فى قطع الطريق، واوصلكم الى بيتكم ..،".

On December 29, 2009, two days before the year ended, I received a call: Ustaz Mohammed Beshir passed away. He had carried the Torch, AdDia’a, for decades before the torch of his life died out...Ustaz Mohammed Beshir was buried in Asmara where he had a crowded farewell that fitted him properly. May God have mercy on his pious soul.
