في عام 1965م اضطررت إلى مغادرة أغردات متوجهاً إلى كسلا ومنها إلى الخرطوم فقابلت هناك الزين ياسين، وتم تعييننا معاً أعضاءً في القيادة الثورية ثم رجعنا سوياً إلى كسلا والتحقنا بالقيادة الثورية في نوفمبر 1965م، وقد جاء هذا التعيين من قبل المجلس الأعلى. في ذلك الحين كان إدريس قلايدوس وإدريس محمد آدم في الخرطوم، بينما كان عثمان صالح سبي في دمشق.
