ኣንፈት መጻኢት ኤርትራዊት ደሞክራሲ !

ኣብዚ ግዜዚ ሃገርና ኤርትራ ትሓልፎ ዘላ  ብጣዕሚ ኣዋጣሪ ዝኾነ መድረኽ ኢዩ፤ ንሱ

ከኣ በቲ ሓደ ወገን ነቲ ብመሪር ቃልሲ ዝመጸ  ናጽነት መብጽዓ ጠሊሞም ንውልቃዊ ስልጣኖምን ረብሕኦም ክጥቀምሉ ዝደልዩን፤ በቲ ካልእ ወገን ከኣ ኣብ ቃልሲ ዝተኣትወ መብጽዓ ይትሓሎ፤ ፍረ ቃልስና ንሕዝብና፤ ዝብል ክልተ ተጻራሪ ግርጭት ኢዩ።

ኣብዘን ዝሓለፍ 15 ዓመታት፤ ጠላማት መብጽዓን ገበቲ ስልጣንን፤ ነቲ ብቃልሲ ሓፋሽ ሕዝቢ ዝተረኽበ ናጽነተ-መሬት ኤርትራ፤ ኣብ ረብሓኦም ክቕይሩ ዘይገበርዎ ፈተነ የለን፤ ሕዝቢ ከኣ እተን 6 ዓመት ድሕሪ ናጽነት ብታሕጓስን ፈስታን ተስፋን ኢዩ አሕሊፍወን፤ ኣብ 1977 ከኣ ቅዋሙ ኣጽዲቑ፤ በቲ ቕዋሙ ተመሪሑ ሃገሩ፤ ሃገር ሕግን ፍትሕን፡

ሃገር ሰላምን፡ ምክብባርን፤ ጽቡቕ ጉርብትናን ዝሰፈና ሃገር ክትከውን ብምሉእ ተስፋ ኢዩ ዝጽበ ነይሩ። ግን እቶም ገበቲ ስልጣን ደቂሶም ኣይሓደሩን፤ ሕዝቢ ጌና ኣብ ታሕጓስን ጽንብል ናጽነቱ እናገበር ከሎ ንሳቶም ጉድጓዱ ኢዮም ዝፍሕሩሉ ነይሮም።

ናይ ናጽነት ታሕጓስን ጓይላን ዘፍ ኢሉ፤ ሕይወት ኣብ ንቡር ምስ ተመልሰ፤ ግን እቲ ኣብ ቃልሲ ዘትኣትወ መብጽዓን፡ ናይ ቅዋም ኣብ ግብሪ ምትርጓምን ሕቶታት ክልዓል ናይ ግዲ ኮነ። እቶም ስልጣን ሕዝቢ ክግብቱ ከይደቀሱ ዝሓድሩ ዝነበሩ ግን ክህብዎ ዝኽእሉ መልሲ ኣይነበሮምን፤ ኣብ ስልጣኖም ክቕጸሉ እንተድኣ ኮይኖም፤ እታ ዝሓሸት ምኽንያት ውግእ ምልዓል ኮይና ተሰሚዓቶም፤ ዘይተሓስበ ውግእ ከኣ አብ 1998 ኣልዓሉ። ይዋእ ! ገርሀኛ ሕዝብና ከኣ ዘይሓሰቦ ስለ ዝረኸበ፤ ነታ ዝፈትዎም ደቁ ከፊሉ ዘምጽኣ ሃገሩ ከይተመራመረን ምኽንያት ከይሓተተን  ሃገሩ ንምክልኻል ኣብ ውግእ ተጠብሰ፤ እንደገና ከኣ ኣሽሓት ምሩጻት ደቁ ከፊሉ ሃገሩ ተኸላኸለ።

እቶም ጠላማት ኣብቲ ባዕሎም ዝወልዕዎ ውግእ ከምቲ ዝሓሰብዎ ስለ ዘይከደ ዘረባዕባዕ ክብሉ ጀመሩ፤ ነቲ ባዕላቶም ዝፈሓርዋ ጉድጓድ ከኣትውዋ ከኣ ፈርሑዋ፤ ተረካቢ ይዓድዮ ! ከኣ ደለዩ።

ነቶም መሰል ኤርትራዊ ዜጋ ይትሓሎ፤ኣኼባ ይገበረልና፤ ኣብ ሃገርና፡ ፍትሕን ፡ ሕግን ደሞክራስን፡ ማዕርነትን፡ ሰላምን ይንገስ፤ ኣብ እዋን ቃልሲ ዝተኣትወ መብጽዓ ይተሓሎ፤ ሕዝባዊ መንግሰቲ ይተኸል፤ ቅዋም ኣብ ግብሪ ይተርጎም ዝበሉ ኩሎም ከኣ ኣብ እስሪ ቤት ኣስፈሩዎም።

ነቶም ኣስታት 17 ዝኾኑ ተባዓት መንእሰያት ጋዜጠኛታት፤ ነዚ ኣብ ላዕሊ ዝተጠቕሰ ጉዳይ ኣብ ናጻ ጋዘጣታቶም ስለ ዘቃለሑ ከኣ፤  ደሃዮም ኣጥፍእዎም።

ንሕዝብና ከኣ ብዓሌትን ብወገንን ከምዝፈላለ ብምግባር ብሒም ኢሉ ዓገብ ከምዘይብል ተገብረ፤ ናይ መዋእል ጀጋኑ ኣብ ሓንቲ መዓልቲ ናብ ከዳዓት ተለወጡ። ሕዝቢ ኣስደሚምዎ ስቕ በለ፤ ንኸይዛርብ ከኣ ብኣፉ ተለጉመ።

ቲቪ ኤረ ትኹን፤ ራድዮታቶም፤ መርበብ ሓበሬታቶም ኣብ ናይ ሓሶት ዘመተ ተዋፈራ።

ንውሑዳት ኣብ ወጻኢ ዝቕመጡ ናይ ሕጊ ግደፍ ኣባላቶም ዓይኖም ከዕውሩ  ሚልዮናት ናይ ሕዝቢ ገንዘብ ብምውጻእ፤ ኣብ መላእ ዓለም ዝዝርጋሕ  ቲቪ ኤረ ፈነወ ብምግባር ናይ ሓሶት ፕሮፓጋንድኦም ክሳብ ሎሚ ይንሰንሱ ኣለዉ።

ሕዝቢ ከኣ ንቁራስ ባኒ ክረክብ ምሉእ መዓልቲ ይስራዕ፤ ነዳዲ ስእኑ ኣብ ጸልማት ይሓድር፤ ነዳዲ ስኢኑ ዉሑድ ኣእዋም ዓደቡኡ ይቖርጽ፤ ነዳዲ ሲኢኑ ክንደይ ኪሎመተራት ብእግሩ ይጎዓዝ ፤ እዚ ኩሉ ዓዲ በጺሑ ዝመጸ ዝምስክሮ ሓቂ ኢዩ።

ሕጊ-ግደፍ ከኣ ገንዘብ ሕዝቢ ኣብ ረብሓ ዘይበሉ ውግእ ኣንጻር ሕዝቡን፤ ጎረበታቱን

ይኽስክሶ አሎ፤ እዚ ከኣ ናይ ኩሎም ዲክታቶራውያን ጠባይ ኢዩ፤ ንኣብነት ሳዳም

ኣንፃር  ጎረበታቱ ንመዋእል ኢዩ ተዋጊኡ፤ ኣብ መጨሽቱኡ ከኣ ኣብ ጎዳጉዲ

ከም ኣናጹ ተሓቢኡ ህይወቱ ኣድሒኑ፤ ካብ ህይወት ደቁ ንላዕሊ ነብሱ ፈትዩ።

እዚ ኣብ ላዕሊ ዝተጠቅሰ ርእሰ-ነገራት ሕዝቢ ብናጻ ከይዛራረበሉ እኒሆ ናጻ ፕረስ

ተዓጺየን ጥራይ ዘይኮነስ ከም ውልቀ ሰብ ከማን ኣብ እንዳ ሻሂ ኣቲኻ ወይ ኣብ

ባራት ኣቲኻ ሂን ምሂን ከይትበሃሃል ሃገር ብዕሱባት ሓሰወቲ ተጎቢኣ ኢያ።

ካብዚ ሓሊፉ ኣብ ኤውሮጳን፤ ኣመሪካን ከምኡ እውን ኣብ ካልእ ዓለማት እውን ብኤምባስታቶን ቆንስላቶምን ሂን ምሂን ከይንበሃሃል ብርሑቕ (ብremote control) ክቋጻጸሩና ይፍትኑ ኣለዉ።

ቀደም ሕዝብና ብስሙ ኩሩዕ፤ ንሓቂ ኣብ ግንባሩ ዝውቃዕ ኢዩ ዝነበረ፤ ሎሚ ግን ነብሰ ተኣማንነት ትጠፍእ ኣላ። ኣብ ውሽጢ ሃገርስ ደሓን ንሕይወቱ ከድሕን ኣፉ ይሓዝ፤ ኣብ ደሞክራሲያውያን ሃገራት ንርእስና እናነበርና ንሓቅን ሓሶትን ፈላሊና፤ ዓው ኢልና ርእይቶና ክንህብ ዘይምኽኣልና ግን ዘሐዝንን ዘተሓሳስብ ጉዳይ ኢዩ።

ኣብ ኢነተርነት እንጽሕፎ ርእይቶናውን ብዘይስምና ክንጽሕፍ ዘገድድ ኩነታትሲ እንታይ ኣሎ፤ ኣብ ውሽጢ ሃገር ዘሎ ረብሐ እንተኾይኑ ረብሓ ብዘይ ሕግን፡ ፍትሕን፡ መሰልን ዋጋ የብሉን፤ ን30 ዓመታት ሓቢሮም ዝተቓለሱ ብጾቶምን፡ መባልዕቶምን፡ መማኽርቶምን፤ እኳ ዘይመሓሩስ ንዓና ንኣብ ስደት ዘሎናኳ ቀዳሞት ጸላእቶም ምዃና ክርሳዕ ዘይብሉ ጉዳይ ኢዩ፤ ትኽስ ድሙ መዘንግዕ ኣንጭዋ  ደላር ክሳብ ዘበርከትና ምስኦም አሎና፤ ዶላር ጠጠው እንተ ኢላ ግን ደሓን ኩን ደሓን ትረፍ ኢዩ።

ክልተ ካብ ሚእቲ ዘይከፈለስ ሎሚ እኮ ንሃገሩ ብማዕዶ ኢዩ ዝሪኣ ዘሎ፤ እቲ መወድኢ 

ሕዝብና፤ መዋግኢ ምስ ጎረባቢትና፤ መናዊሒ ዕድመ ገበቲ ስልጣን፤ 2% ዝኸፍል ዘሎ

ከኣ ግዝያዊ ወዲ ማሕበር ሕጊ-ግደፍ ጥራይ ኢዩ።

እዚ ኩሉ ኣብ ላዕሊ ዝተጠቅሰ ኣብ ግምት ብምእታው፤ እዚ ሎም ቂነ ጋዘጠኛታት

ናጻ ፕረስን፤ ርእቶኻ ብናጻ ንከይትዛርብ ብዝግበር እገዳ፤ ድሕሪ ሰሜን ኮረያን፤ ቱረከመኒስታንን፤  ኤርትራ ካብ ዓለም ሳልሰይቲ ምውጻኣ  ኣማን ብኣማን ሓቂ።

አጥቢቕና እንተ ተማራሚርና ኣካያይዳ ሕጊ ግደፍን፤ ካብ ኣካያይዳ ሰሜን ኮረያ ዝፈልዮ

ጀኦግራፊካዊ ኣቀማምጣን፤ ኣቶሚክ ቦምብ ዘይምህላውን እንተዘይኮይኑ ካልእ ብዙሕ ፍልልይ ዘለዎ ኣይመስለንን።

ሕዝብና ናይ ብሓቂ ሓቢሩ ሓድነቱ ኣጣናኺሩ፤ ብኣዕጽምቲ ደቁ ዝተሃንጸት ኤርትራ፤ ብደም ደቃ ተሓጺባ ናጻ ዝወጸት ኤርትራ፤ ክካላኽለላ እንተ ዘይኪኢሉ፤  ንካልኣይ ግዜ ነቂሕና ንመሰልና  እነተዘይተቓሊስና፤ ሃገርና ካብዚ ዘላቶ ናብ ዝኸፍአ ከም እትወድቕን፤ ብውሑዳት ብዘይካ ስልጣኖም ካልእ ዘይግድሶም ተመንጢላን ተረጊጻን ከምትነብር ብዙሕ ምርምር ዘድልዮ ጉዳይ ኣይኮነን! ዘይወጽእ ናይ ሓባር ጣዕሳን ! ጓህን ! ተስፋ ቁርጸትን እውን ከኸትለልና ኢዩ።

ስለዚ ኣብ ዋሺነግቶን ክግበር ተሓሲቡ ዘሎ ሓርነትና ብድምጽና ብዝብል ጭርሖ እዋናዊ ኢዩ። ኣብ 2006 ግን ካብ ግዜ ናብ ግዜ እናማዕበለ ይኸይድ አሎ፤ ካብ ኩለ ዘሓጉሰ ከኣ መንእሰያት እውን ይለዓሉ ምህላዎም ኢዩ፤ ኣብዚ ዓመት ሰላማዊ ሰልፍታት ብኤውሮፓ ጀሚሩ፤ ጉዕዞ ንሓርነት ካብ ኒዮ ዮርክ ንዋሺነግቶን ቀጺሉ፤ ካብኡ ከኣ ኣብ ደቡብ ኣፍሪቃ ተባሪዑ፤ ሕጂ ከኣ ብዝለዓለ ደረጃን ብዙሕ ምቕርራባትን ዝግበረሉ ዘሎ ሰላማዊ ሰልፊ ን30.10.2006 ኣብ ዋሺንግቶን ይዳሎ አሎ። ዕዉት ሰላማዊ ሰልፊ ከምዝኸውንን ኣንፈትን ከፋትን መጻኢት ደሞክራሲያዊት ኤርትራ  ከምዝኸውን እውን ይኣምን።

أيها المتظاهرون الشجعان

تلقينا بإرتياح وسرور بالغين ماتقومون به من تحرك جريئ ومبارك ضد النظام الدكتاتوري وما يمثله من معاني الظلم والجور والجرائم.. إن تنظيمكم ومشاركتكم في هذه المسيرة لهو تعبير واضح علي نصرتكم لقضايا شعبنا الأرتري العادلة والتلاحم معه من أجل تقريب يوم النصر ونهاية الحقبة السوداء من تأريخه.. نبارك مظاهرتكم ومقاومتكم السلمية ونهنئكم علي عرسكم الوطني ونشد من أزركم في وقت تبعثون فيه بإشارات ايجابية وقوية، وتعطون فيه دروساً هامة في معني الوطنية والانحياز الي الشعب الأرتري المقهور والمسلوب.. إن مظاهرتكم تمثل مخزون أمل لشعبنا في الوطن الجريح الأمر الذي سيرفع من معنوياته ويزيد من سقف مطالبه، كما أن مظاهرتكم الخالدة تلهمنا بالمثل العليا والتطلعات السامية مثل حب الوطن والتفاني فيه ونصرة المظلومين وإغاثتهم.. إننا نهنئكم اليوم علي إمتلاككم وسائل معرفة تحديد الخير والشرالتي دفعتكم للإنحياز الي الشعب ونبارك لكم هذا المهرجان في أهم عاصمة بالعالم ونحسب أن ذلك يضاف الي رصيدكم الوطني لما يمثله من رسالة مهمة وعاجلة للنظام القمعي في أسمرا لإقناعه بعدم إنسانية ممارساته وللضغط عليه وإحراجه والتشهير به حتي يعود الي رشده أو تنزل به سبعين ألف مصيبة فتقتلعه من جذوره غير مأسوفاً عليه.. لاشك أنكم تعلمون أن الوطن الأرتري في محنة وأنه بحاجة الي مزيد من التلاحم والتعاضد بين أبنائه خاصة بين القوي الوطنية التي أنحازت الي مصالح الشعب وقضاياه الحقيقية لذا أننا نعتبركم من هذه الفئة فأستمروا مسلحين بمبادئ الشجاعة والصدح بالحقيقة وأعلموا أن ماتقومون به في واشنطن تردد صداه الحناجر المتطلعة الي الحرية في أسمرا، ويكون باعثاً لجميع الغيورين الوطنيين الأرتريين أينما كانوا لينتظموا في مسيرات سلمية احتجاجية وفي مقاومة مدنية مستمرة وفي تظاهرات وإعتصامات تقض من مضاجع النظام الفاسد وتهز الكراسي من تحت أقدامه المتهالكة وتقرب من يوم الفرح الكبير.. إننا نعلن اليوم وقوفنا اللامتناهي مع مظاهرة واشنطن في 30 أكتوبر 2006 ونعد ذلك درجة عالية من التعاطف بين أبناء الشعب الأرتري المعروف عنه التكاتف والتعاضد خاصةً إبان محنة الإستعمار الإثيوبي ونحن اليوم في أمس الحاجة لإستحضار تلك الروح لنقاوم بها قوي الشر والفساد المهيمنة علي بلادنا ونتجاوز بها المحن السياسية والإقتصادية والاجتماعية الناجمة عن وجود نظام الطاغية.

هنيئاً للمتظاهرين الشجعان في واشنطن.

هنيئاً لهم في عرسهم الوطني الكبير.

التحية لهم في مقاومتهم السلمية الباسلة.

طوبي لهم وهم يزرعون الأمل والمحبة وسط شعبهم.

النصر لهم في مسيرتهم الخالدة في يوم أغر خالد.

نبارك لهم إهتمامهم وانشغالهم بشئون شعبهم وشجونه وآماله.

فاليفرح شعبنا بمثل هذه المسيرات وليبقي الأمل في قلبه، فالدرب مهما طال لابد من الوصول وأن الحق سينتصر في نهاية المطاف.

A message of  Solidarity to Washington DC demonstrations 
To the courageous demonstrators

It was with great pride that we have followed your plans for conducting these courageous and blessed demonstrations against the dictatorial regime and what it represents from crimes and oppression of our innocent people. Your initiative is a huge moral boost and show of solidarity to the just cause of the Eritrean people. It is a step that will assist our people in bringing justice sooner and shorten the life of the dictatorial regime.

We wish you the best in your peaceful campaigns and congratulate your positive role in showing leadership and highly admirable organization of your campaign. The way you have conducted your campaign is inspirational to all Eritreans to follow your example.

These demonstrations bring a ray of hope to our injured and oppressed people. For these demonstrations to take place in one of the most important capitals of the world will have a positive impact in raising awareness and putting pressure on the oppressive regime.

Your global solidarity movement comes at a time when our people are in need for a united message of hope and support from those of us more privileged and enjoying freedoms in democratic nations. Your voices will echo all around the world and no doubt will send shock waves to the regime in Asmara. We take the opportunity to encourage all Eritreans around the world to bless your initiative and we declare that we are with you all the way.

It is know to all that Eritreans in Melbourne have been organizing demonstrations against the regime in Eritrea for five years, and we are proud to inform the world that we will not stop till we see justice for our people and again this year we have commenced our preparations for our annual resistance rallies.

Let our people rejoice as a new era of resistance has begun.

Just as we have seen the success of demonstrations in South Africa, we wish all success to the demonstrations in Washington DC.

ንነጻነቱን ሐርነቱን ክምህ ከይበለ ዝተቓለሰ ህዝብና፣ ካብቶም አቐዲሞም አርዑት መግዛእቶም ዘንበሩሉ ባዕዳውያን ገዛእቲ ብዘይፍለ መንገዲ፣ እቲ ብኢደ ወነኑ አብ ስልጣን ዝሐኾረ ናይ ህግደፍ ስርዓት፣ አብ ልዕሊ እንግድዓ መላእ ሕብረተሰብና ዝዘርግሖ ዓፋኒ ናይ ጭቆና ምልካዊ መርበቡ ይኸብድን ይመርርን። ስለዝኾነ ከአ አብ ኩሉ ኩርናዓት ናይ ዓለም ዝርከብ ኤርትራዊ ዜጋ ናይ ተቓውሞ ድምጹ ከስምዕ ግድነትን ባህርያውንዩ።

ብሕጽር ዝበለ ህሉው ሐቀኛ አተሃላልዋ ኤርትራን ህዝባን ንምጥቃስ፡-

  • ሰብአዊ ርሕራሔን ሐልዮት ዘይብሉ፣ ሕገ አልቦ ዝኾነ ጨካን ምምሕዳር ህግደፍ ዝጸልኤ፣ አፍራዪን ተካኢ ወለዶ ዝኾነ ኤርትራዊ መንእሰይ፣ ሃገሩ ኮፍ ዘይተብል ዝረሰነት ሞቕሎ ኮይናቶ፣ ካብአ አርሒቑ ንምህዳም ምድረ በዳታት ክቖርጽ አጻምእ ሑጻ እንዳተሰትየ፣ ውቅያኖሳት ክሰግር ድራር ዓሳታት እንዳኾነ፣ ብሂወት ዝተረፈ ከአ ፈቐዶ ሃገራት ተዘርዩ ናብ ስደተኛ ተቐይሩ፣ ዝዝረወሉን ዝጠፍአሉን ሰዓታት ብምዃኑ
  • ስርዓት ኢሳያስ ንዝነበረ ልዙብ ኤርትራዊ ባህሊን ልምዲን ንምድምሳሱ፣ ናብ ብራዕዲ አሜን ኢሉ ዝግዛእ ምህሙን ተምብርካኺ ዝኾነ ሕብረተ ሰብ ከአ ንምቕያሩ፣ ነታ መባእታ ሃገር ዝኾነት ስድራ ቤት ኤርትራ ንምብታናን ንምዝራጋን አብ ዝተዓጥቀሉ እዋን
  • ኤርትራ ብሐደ ውልቀ ባእታ ፊን ዘበሎ ዝአወጆ ውሳኔታት እትመሐዳደር፣ ህዝቢ ድምጹ ምስ ዘስምዕ ከም ነውርን ገበንን ዝተቖጽረላ፣ናብ ሕጊ አልቦነት ናይ ሸፋቱ ሕዛእቲ አብ ዝተቐየረትሉ እዋን
  • ካብ አብያተ ትምህርትን ሕክምናን፣ አብያተ ማእሰርትን ቅንጸላን በዚሖም፣ ብአማኢት አሽሐት ዝቑጸሩ ንጹሃት ኤርትራውያን ተራ ዜጋታት ይኹኑ፣ ፖለቲከኛታት፣ ጋዜጠኛታት፣ ተመሃሮ፣ ሐረስቶት፣ ደቂ አንስትዮ፣ ብዘይ ሕጋዊ ክስን ፍርዲን፣ ገደብ ዘይብሉ ጊዜን፣  አብ ትሕቲ ጸልማት ዝወረሶ ማእሰርቲታት እንዳተገርፉ አብ ዝበልዩሉ ዘለዉ ሰዓታት፣ ኤርትራዊ ቅልጽሙ አልዒሉ ክምክትን፣ ድምጹ ክብ አቢሉ ተቓውሞኡ ከስምዕን አድላዪ` ጥራሕ ዘይኮነስ እዋናዊ ዝኾነ ሃገራዊ ግዴታኡ ኢዩ።

ነቲ ቀደም ሰሚሩ ባዕዲ ዝሰጎገ ስሙር መኸትኡ ብምሕዳስ፣ ሎሚውን ደጊሙ ቀላጽሙን ድምጹን ብምውህሃድ፣ ንምልካዊ ጭቆና ሐንሳብን ንሐዋሩን ወጊዱ፣ ንነብሲ ወከፍ ዜጋ ዘውሕስ ጽላል ኩሉ ከአ ዝኾነ ፣ ሐቀኛ ደሞክራስያዊ ስርዓት ንምርግጋጽ ዝእምት ድምጹ ንኸስምዕ፣ አብቲ ንዕለት10/30/06 ዓ.ም. አብ ከተማ ዋሺንግቶን ዲሲ ተመዲቡ ዘሎ ሰፊሕ ህዝባዊ ሰላማዊ ሰልፊ ተሳትፎኡ ንኸዕዝዝ ከአ ተዓዲሙሎ።

ሃገርና ኤርትራ ናይ ዝተፈላለየ ባህሊታትን ልምዲታት ኮነ እምነታት ዘለዎም ኤርትራውያን ከምዝኾነት ንምንጽብራቕ፣ ነቲ ሕብረተሰብና ዝሕበነሉ ዝተፈላለየ ባህልና ብዘንጸባርቕ መንገዲ ንምስታፍ፣ ኩሉ ብዘይ አፈላላይ ብሐበራ አብዚ ዝካየድ ናይ ዋሺንቶን ዲሲ ንኽሳተፍ ሃገራውን ሞራላውን ሐላፍነቱ ምዃኑ ከአ ነዘኻኻር።

Reclaiming Eritrean Culture
Announcement # 2 (September 28, 2006)

You already know that Eritrea has one of the worlds most ancient civilizations.  You already know that Eritrea is one of the few countries in the world that has its own alphabets.

But did you know that Eritrea had the first independent trade union in Africa?

Did you know that Eritrea had one of the first private presses in Africa?

Did you know that Eritrea had one of the first contested elections in Africa?

Did you know that the societies in Eritrea had representative forms of self-government that survived for centuries?

At the root of all these achievements is the Eritrean culture.

A national culture is a set of beliefs, customs, and behaviors that is transmitted from one generation to the next.  It includes the way we dress, the way we speak, our values, and our mores.  In short, it is our built-in code and our moral compass which directs us in differentiating between what is good and what is evil, what is right and what is wrong, what is worthy and what is trivial.

All powers that intend to monopolize power target a nations culture.  They aim to dismantle it by calling it savage, uncivilized and backward and replace it with one that serves their interest.  The PFDJ is only the latest in a series of power-monopolizers who have targeted the Eritrean culture.

Heres an example of the difference between PFDJ culture and Eritrean culture:

Eritrean Culture PFDJ Culture
Life is precious.  All births are celebrated joyfully and all deaths are commemorated somberly. Life is dispensable.  Eritreans who die crossing borders, on ships, on distant places are not acknowledged.
Education is highly valuedand the educated are rightfully seen as treasure. Education is experimental.  The educated are viewed with suspicion.
The elderly are seen as fountains of wisdom. The elderly are viewed as competitors to its authority and meddlesome pests who must be ignored.
Religious authorities are highly respected moral figures and their words and deeds emulated. Religious authorities are considered threats who may dilute its propaganda and provide guidance contrary to its messages.
Women are considered the anchor of the family; in some Eritrean societies, they are heads of households.  Men who commit violence against women are considered to suffer from terrible character flaws.  Women are incubators or pleasure companions for men.  The PFDJ has imprisoned women who were still nursing their babies.
The youth are considered the future of the nation; parents will sacrifice anything to advance the future of their children. The youth are extensions of weapons, whose only purpose is to learn to carry arms and shoot or lift rocks .
Municipal leaders, judges derive their authority from the consent of those they govern. Leaders derive their authority from the fact that they carry guns and judges sole authority is their loyalty to the dictator.
All art, stories, music, poems celebrate life, valor, wisdom, kindness and generosity. Art celebrates military adventurism and killing.
Fairness is the very glue of the society: there is fairness in distribution of land; justice in crimes & punishment; representation and term limits in governance. Inherently unfair in all facetseconomy, society, politics.  People are declared guilty, without having a chance to defend themselves.  
Kind, generous and hospitable:  Guests are showed maximum hospitality.  Forgiveness and reconciliation is built in.  Cruelty is its trademark.  It is so unjust and so cruel, the system separates mothers from their children; arrests parents for the infractions of their sons.  Refuses to grant visitation rights to the incarcerated.  Celebrates rudeness and crassness. 

Come Celebrate Eritrean Culture

On October 30, 2006, we invited all Eritreans to come and reclaim Eritrean culture. 

Condemning the darkness of PFDJ is legitimate and a demonstration of our resistance.  But more than condemning the darkness, we need to celebrate the lightthe light of Eritrean culture.

Come to celebrate the culture of life, instead of a culture of death. 

Come to take pride in the achievements of educated Eritreans.

Come to praise the elderly and our religious leaders.

Come to celebrate our mothers and sisters.

Come to celebrate and take pride in our youth.

Come to call for justice and fairness for all those imprisoned and languishing in dire places!

A Day To Affirm Eritrean Pride, Freedom & Stand Against Oppression

Los Angeles, CA.  Eritrean Solidarity, a global network of Eritrean civil society groups, is calling on all Eritreans and friends of Eritrea to come join us for a festive demonstration of Eritrean pride and culture against oppression in Washington, DC on Monday, October 30th, 2006.

The history of Eritrea is of a continual struggle by people demanding their civil liberties, political rights and self-determination against colonialist and oppressors who ruled by force, terror and fear. Albeit homegrown, the regime of Isaias Afwerki is only the latest in a long list of tyrants who have attempted to expand their power monopoly by stamping out the very essence of Eritreanism: pride in a culture that celebrates fairness and justice.

Come join us to reaffirm Eritrean culture:  

Come join us in your Eritrean attire that celebrates your religious, ethnic and national pride; 

Come join us with your drums, your embelta, your walta, your dignified traditional attires,  

Come join us with Eritrean reconciliation in your heart, and Eritrean resolve against injustice in your veins;

Come join us and refuse to watch silently when basic freedoms of our people are denied and indefinitely postponed; 

Come join us and be a voice for the voiceless.  A voice for

  • the prisoners of conscience,

  • the disappeared

  • those languishing in refugee camps

  • the elderly

  • the youth

  • those serving in endless campaigns of war

This is not an occasion for sadness but defiance and a great opportunity to show our Solidarity, in full force, with the voices of justice and democracy. We will provide regular updates on the campaign.
