Resistance
When your home country is run at the whim of a homegrown whacko, and when you fully understand and know the questionable state of mind of your tormentor, and when the pain inflicted to you and your beloved ones is so bitter, you fully know the embodiment of all the pain and suffering can be summed in a pair of word: PFDJ & Isaias. Why do you choose to dance to the tune of PFDJ & Isaias at Seattle festival? Why? O’ well, don’t bother to answer this question, history will undoubtedly ink it in red-blood; and believe me it is going to be harsh and unforgiving. Just in case, if you don’t have a clue, let me help- you will be remembered one of those who dosed gasoline while PFDJ & Isaias stoke the match that burned the country. And for that, stay assured your soul will torment you for you blinded yourself to the suffering of your people. Whatever excuse or justification you possibly think of is weak and has no merit; you condemn yourself to be the tool of a tyrant through and through. It is clear, a big segment of Eritreans who were diehard supporters and generous financiers of PFDJ has dissociated themselves from the regime. However, they are still disillusioned by self-imposed ignorance. Even though they agree unequivocally the dire situation Eritrea found itself under PFDJ & Isaias regime, and even though they admit the future the country is going to is down the tube, they are hiding behind a flawed justification by erecting inept hurdles such as – "if only the border was demarcated", what an inferior line of reasoning. They say, "The border has to be demarcated before we do anything." Well, well, well people, get over it! The border issue is bread and butter for PFDJ political life. The regime knows if that border issue is resolved and started to be referred in the past tense, that will be the beginning of end for PFDJ; so what is the incentive for Isaias and company to solve that problem, get real, it is common sense. This regime doesn’t wont the issue-solved, simple and clear. Mind you, Isaias, after instigating the Badme war that consumed so many Eritreans and also that earned us the shameful title of ‘aggressors’ by the world court, don’t you thing he commands the power and the flexibility to help surpass the deadlock? Yes he could. Who would dare to question or challenge his decree? No one. But again no incentive; it is a bread and butter to his political life. If you are waiting for the border issue to settle under this regime you are going to wait for a long howl, and the worst thing is you are waiting for something you do not have any control over. Let me go back to Seattle where the opposition torch is burning brilliantly; it is really encouraging to see a few dedicated Eritreans with a gusto, who stood to express their dismay and voice their disapproval for those Eritreans who flocked to the festival hall to glorify the dictator in Asmara. These courageous opposition members did it with a class; they blasted their slogan with a megaphone for the whole world to hear. Sure enough the sharp slogan pierced through the eardrums of the PFDJ festival attendees and scolded their guts to give them heartburn. The screaming amplifiers narrated with passionate poems and emotionally laden statements were too much for the festival attendee to handle. The naked truth that was hurled to them had strong gravity; it pulled their big heads to the ground. They could not make eye contact. How could they? The truth was not in their side. What a valuable lesson this courageous Eritreans from Seattle taught us. I tip my hat for you all who participated from the inception to the delivery of the demonstration. And believe me you good men and women in Seattle, when in those two unique evening you braved the elements and stood your ground on the sidewalk to teach and demonstrate the fundamentals of civic duty, (what exalting experience) you made history. For that you will be crowned with pride. And of course that act of dedication will shine in your memory for years to come. Thank you all |
