EEBC: Eritrea and Ethiopian Partial Awards (12/19/05)
By Awate Team - Dec 20, 2005, 15:04 PST
Almost exactly a year ago, the EEBC issued its partial awards on claims filed by Eritrea and Ethiopia. Predictably, the supporters of both governments selected only the sections that are most favorable to them (or most damning of the other side) and used them for propaganda purposes. Once again, this year, EEBC has published its partial awards on claims presented by Eritrea and Ethiopia and once again, the two sides have already begun to selectively cut and paste. If you want to read the entirety of the claims, the arguments and awards, we invite you to visit http://www.pca-cpa.org/ENGLISH/RPC/#Eritrea-Ethiopia%20Claims%20Commission . If you want to read just the awards (without the claims and the arguments presented by both sides), you can find it here: The awards to the 4 Eritrean and 5 Ethiopian claims filed are all in one file here, presented in the same sequence as they appear in the website of the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
Archive: An Interview With Mr. Seyoum Ogbamichael

Before we talk about organizations, lets talk about the Eritrean citizen. Basically, the democratic process in the level of establishing a system can only be assured when the political rights of people are acknowledged. This cannot happen under a dictatorial system, which wants to have exclusive power and to consolidate its narrow interest at the expense of the basic rights of the people. When such a system exists, basic rights of people to think and express their opinions organize and to move freely, cannot be there—it is incompatible. It is unthinkable.
An Interview With Abdella Adem (Deputy Chairman, EDA)
By Interviewer: Saleh Gadi - Nov 19, 2005, 12:59 PST
Basically, when you form a military wing, it is not for defensive purposes but for an offensive purpose. We are on the offensive in all aspects of our struggle- be it on the political aspect of diplomatic aspect. Therefore, the presence of an armed force is tied to that.

Awate Interview With Mr. Mengestab Asmerom
By Saleh Younis - Jul 25, 2005, 18:45 PST
Regarding what lessons can be drawn from the experience, first, since peaceful transition of power is an exemplar of democracy and since we say that we are struggling to implement a democratic system in Eritrea, we should be subordinate to the voice of the majority and internal constitutions. We should believe and accept that whoever gives us authority has the right to take it away. We should be ready to be leaders today and followers tomorrow.
Awate Interview: Solomon Abera, Director of State Radio Zara
By Awate Team - Apr 17, 2005, 16:49 PST
A journalist should not be two things: a reader who reads what others write for him and a broadcaster who repeats what has already been said. A journalist is also not someone who reflects negativity only, but someone who pursues and looks for truth everywhere to inform his audience. In my experience, chances of fulfilling those ideals are not there, in Eritrea. In the situation we have, to become that kind of journalist is not possible. Therefore, I decided to abandon the system and become a refugee and an exilee of circumstances.
Awate's Interview With Berhane Yemane ("Hanjema")
By Awate Team - Mar 29, 2005, 08:54 PST
This is why I am saying no to your request for a photo to accompany your interview. I am a simple fighter, and I will fulfill my role and my share in bringing about the downfall of PFDJ. People should know that I did not volunteer for this chairmanship position; I was thrust in it by the EDA. It is a burden, and I carry it. I view myself as a transitional figure.
