Dear Readers,

As part of our mission to provide our readers with news and information, this website had been, since it foundation, posting announcements and press releases from Eritrean political and civil organizations. We did this even when we felt that many of these announcements had neither news nor much in the way of information; many were from entities that were not even organizations in any meaningful sense but competed for space with those that were; and quite a few were in PDF formats and unsupported fonts. We did so because we believed this was a necessary service, given that many of the organizations had no access to the media.

Since this is no longer the case, we are changing our policy effective immediately. We are reserving the awate.com front page for news and features from our readers and writers. In an effort to avoid duplication and redudancy, priority placement will be given to writers whose articles have not appeared elsewhere. With regard to organizational announcements and press releases, we ask organizations and their contact persons to self-post their announcements at our forum pages. You do not have to be "technical": here are the simple steps to follow:

(1) From the discussion forum (Awate Forum) which appears on the top right-hand corner of the front page, follow the link to the Public Announcements category;

(2) If this is your first vist, you will be asked to register. This is a simple process of choosing an e-mail address and a password. The registration is immediate and there is no waiting period.

(3) Post your announcement. The announcement will be instant and it will not be moderated.

If the font of the announcement you are posting is not supported, you can simply post a link to a website where your announcement has appeared.
