A Call for President Isaias’ Resignation

President Isaias, please be like Mr. Mandela. Step down from the presidency and live like a hero among your people. Please stop listening to your so-called “supporters”; because they are your real enemies! Your “supporters” want you to stay on, only for their personal gain, which includes illegally buying our land, with your blessing of course. I know that you are smart enough to realize this, Mr. President. Most Eritreans  that I know want you to be remembered as a great nationalist; and not like some dictator who didn’t know when to quit.

On the other hand, if you really love your position as President, then earn it.....fair and square! Allow the formation of political parties, and let there be elections. To make the elections fair and legal, allow international observers to come in for monitoring. No more excuses President Isaias. Make it happen soon sir!

My personal advise to you sir, is to retire and enjoy your family, and life itself. Why would you want the aggravation of being a “not so popular” president any more? Who needs it! Please make a bold stand, and declare publicly to “take this presidency and shove it”! Let better able Eritreans take over the helm, for the good of the country that I know you love.

The last thing that the Eritrean people need is a violent change of government, with unnecessary bloodshed. Considering that you helped evict ELF from Badme, siding with TPLF (Weyane) in 1981, and having “rewarded” the infamous town to them, you should have already left office by now. Sir, the Eritrean people may even forgive you for the tens of thousands of our children, brothers and sisters who perished in the “unnecesary war” (your words). Please resign with dignity.

Where there is a will, there is a way.

Respectfully,

Asmelash Gebray

Silver Spring,
